Our Equalities Work

We focus on ensuring that local services in health, education, leisure, community, and social care are accessible to and meet the needs of LGBT+ people. Our key activities include:

Representation: We advocate for LGBT+ inclusion and representation across various services
Training: We offer training programs for individuals and organisations to foster understanding and inclusivity
Awareness Raising: We highlight issues facing the LGBT+ community and showcase our community’s positive contributions to society
Safe Space Creation: Our community centre provides a secure environment for LGBT+ people to meet, socialise, and learn.

Why the Community Needs Us

Equity Partnership employs a community development approach to service delivery, prioritising the needs of:

Older and younger LGBT+ individuals
Transgender individuals
Black and minority ethnic LGBT+ people.

By nurturing the skills and resourcefulness of LGBT+ individuals, we empower them to lead groups and establish networks, fostering a strong and vibrant community. We ensure that the voices of LGBT+ people are heard in crucial areas such as the NHS, police, and local authorities by facilitating consultations with these communities.

Our Impact on the Community

Membership: Over 800 members receive regular updates on our activities
Centre Usage: Our community centre is utilised by 300 people
Group Meetings: 10 different LGBT+ groups meet regularly at our centre
Courses and Events: We offer various short courses and host events to engage and support the community.
