Orientation, gender and the ex-gay movement.   Perterson Toscano, a comedian, actor and Quaker minister spent 17 years in fundamentalist Christian 'ex-gay treatment', hoping to 'cure' his homosexuality. In 1999, he fully came out and accepted himself as a gay man.  Interjecting scenes from his one-person comedy sketches, along with video clips, personal narrative, and the most current information about the ex-gay movement, Peterson's interactive presentation leaves his audience informed and better equipped to address false claims of the Ex-Gay Movement. As the co-founder of , Peterson also reveals the damage that can come to people who pursue to change their orientation and the creative ways ex-gay survivors have reclaimed their lives. N3, Richmond Bldg, University of Bradford, 7-9pm, free.

The big Bradford Pride 2009 day. Events all afternoon in Centenary Square with the rainbow flag flying over City Hall. This is Bradford's first ever major city centre celebration by the district's LGB communities.

Beginning with star broadcaster and writer Amy Lame hosting the event, there will be stage acts all afternoon from 2pm till 6.30pm, a market with a variety of stalls, and a family marquee with children's activities.

Stage acts confirmed at the moment include Alexandra Queen of the Deaf World, a unique and spectacular performance where disco meets deaf signing. The popular Gay Abandon choir will be entertaining and Timberlina will be there. DJs from local venues will keep things buzzing throughout the afternoon with Tom Booze (winner of the recent Bradford 'Drag Factor' competition), Buffet DJs, Missy Mincing from Bradford's popular gay-friendly bar Rafters, and the Bet Lynch Dancers.

Keep an eye on this space for updates as new acts and events are finalised.

If you'd like to participate or help in some way contact Rachel on 01274 727759/79, email mailto:%20rachel@equitypartnership.org.uk.
