This Saturday 16 September at 4.45pm, Picturehouse at Science and Media Museum is holding a fundraiser screening of the 20-minute IMAX documentary Hurricane 3D, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross’s Hurricane Irma Appeal Fund. The tragic consequences of the Atlantic Hurricane are currently being felt across North America and the Caribbean, and local Red Cross volunteers are on the ground ready to give first aid, shelter and water to those affected.
Hurricane tells the story of a 15,000-kilometer journey in the footsteps of one of the most devastating natural events on our planet: the Atlantic Hurricane. A mere breeze at its conception, as it sweeps over the African Sahel it becomes a monsoon, before setting out across the Atlantic as a deepening depression. With this fundraiser screening, we’re hoping to raise money for the Red Cross’s fund while also increasing awareness and learning more about hurricanes.
Tickets can be booked online, in person at Box Office or via the telephone at 0871 902 5756 (13p per minute plus your telephone company’s access charge).
Additional donations to the fund can be made via redcross.org.uk.
Film tickets are priced at £5.50 (adult), £4.50 (retired/student), £4 (child) and £16.00 (family of four).
