LGBT Disability Network
Living with a disability? Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Trans?
The Bradford LGBT Disability Network meets at various accessible locations in Bradford. For details see the events pages.
Come along and discuss what you would like from a network.
Some ideas and thoughts include:
1. space and time to share our experiences
2. telephone network
3. newsletter and email contact – for information and news
4. inviting speakers
5. having a good old natter in person and/ or in a virtual (but safe) world
6. influencing the Equity Partnership and other LGB&T groups and services in order to improve their accessibility and awareness of a wide range of disability issues
7. Influencing disability organisations, groups and services – so they can be more lgb friendly and appropriate
8. meetings – when? how regular? where? who co-ordinates?
9. Campaigning on issues specifically affecting disabled LGBT people
10. trips, visits to accessible and welcoming places of interest.
Some of these can be done quite simply, other ideas will take time and money to make happen. You may have different or better ideas.
We all want to see a network run by its members for its members. We know that disabled LGBT people can experience social isolation. We know that our experiences and our thoughts and ideas are not all the same but we also know that we can become stronger through sharing our ideas and experiences.
The Equity Partnership is committed to increasing access and opportunities for LGBT people across the Bradford district and wider.
If you want more information or cannot come along but are interested and want to be involved please contact Rachel on 01274 727759 or rachel@equitypartnership.org.uk
