The Bradford Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Trans Network welcomes all people from the LGB&T communities. A network for LGB&T groups from across the district to share knowledge and experiences, with guest speakers and themed meetings. Over the Rainbow but Not Down in the Dumps Thursday 21st March 7pm

Together with Age Concern (Yorks & Humber) we are holding a workshop to raise awareness of depression amongst older LGB people at the Equity Centre at 7pm on Thursday 21st March. The workshop aims to develop an understanding of the signs and symptoms of depression, consider the stigma attached to it in later life, consider factors triggering the illness as well as understand what treatment options are available and understand the importance of preventative services. New Family Social (NFS) is organising the next LGBT Adoption and Fostering Focus Week which will take place 4-10 March. In Manchester, there will be a flagship evening event for prospective adopters/foster carers from the LGBT community to be held at the LGF on Thursday, 7 March. Five fostering/adoption agencies from the North-West and a number of NFS members will be attending to answer any queries and talk informally about the process. The 7th Annual General Meeting of the Bradford LGB&T Strategic Partnership (Equity Partnership) will take place on Thursday 31st January 2013. Below is more information about the event, and related documents, which will also be available on the night.

On the night

TIME: 6pm for food. The meeting will begin at 6.45pm.

PLACE: The Atrium, The Colour Experience, Providence Street, Bradford BD1 2PW

During the course of the AGM some existing Trustees will stand down and new ones will be voted in by the members present at the meeting.

ENTERTAINMENT: The Real People Theatre Company

Before the night

If you are a member of the Equity Partnership you are warmly invited to stand as a Trustee on the Board. You will need to complete your nomination form and have it signed by another member. This form must be sent back to Equity Partnership and received by Monday 21st January 2013.

Members also have the right to suggest proposals regarding changes to the Constitution of the Organisation or additions to the Agenda. These proposals must also be received by Equity Partnership no later than Monday 21st January 2013.

The AGM is a real opportunity to get involved in the work of the Equity Partnership, nominate people who you think would make good Trustees and Board Members, and have a say in how the organisation is run.

Described by Time Out as “a post hippie comic”, Rory Motion is a gorgeously thoughtful and funny wordsmith, comedian and tree impressionist. He has his own series on Radio 4, appeared at every Glastonbury since 1989 and is still producing new and hilarious material. He’s joined by Isma Almas who describes herself as “a confused Muslim”. She’s also a very funny one. Among other accolades she was a Funny Women finalist in 2007 and is described by Chortle as “playful, subversive and intelligent”. This will be followed by Fragile Stories; a series of short animated films that relate personal stories of moving to and living in Yorkshire. Illustrating a variety of animation techniques and styles, our storytellers share their accounts of what brought then to Yorkshire: love, work, school, fate…There will also be an opportunity to hear more about Bradford UNESCO City of Film and for City of Film to hear more from you about your views on film in the City.
